Nine Carpathian resorts, one honest table

This catalogue covers the nine areas our desk books most often, from the low, busy slopes above Slavske to the long upper runs at Dragobrat. Nothing here is a brochure: each row lists base depth, runs open, lift count and a price band, and every figure is tied to the moment it was compiled.

A resort stays in the table only while it carries an inspection date from the current season. When an operator stops sending figures, we mark the row as unverified and print the last inspection date beside the name instead of hiding it.

Sort any column to compare the six Carpathian resorts we book. Snow depth and lift counts come from resort operator bulletins compiled on 14 January at 07:30 EET. Where we know a resort has a weak spot, we name it in the terrain notes below this table.

Snow depth is measured at the mid-mountain stake. Terrain split is the share of groomed runs by difficulty and is used as the sort value for that column. What the slopes are actually like underfoot

Every note below names the drawback before the selling point. Sources are the operators' own bulletins plus our pre-season visits, rechecked before each departure.

Dragobrat Rakhiv district, 1,400 m base
The highest base in the Carpathians and the most awkward to reach. The final 8 km is an unmade road: no low-clearance cars, no rear-wheel drive. Our transfers arrive by 4x4 and add about 45 minutes each way.
Bukovel Ivano-Frankivsk region, 900 m base
The largest groomed network in the country, and the least quiet. Expect queues at the main gondola between 10:00 and 12:00 on weekends, and the highest lift pass price on this list.
Slavske Lviv region, 600 m base
Cheap, close to Lviv and kind to first-timers, but the slopes are short: the longest run stays under a kilometre and the main piste turns icy after rain or a warm night.
Pylypets Zakarpattia, 700 m base
Upper slopes hold snow well into April, but the lower runs thaw first. Below roughly 700 m the surface turns to heavy wet snow by early March, which is hard work on a snowboard.
Krasiya Vyhoda, Lviv region, 650 m base
Genuinely uncrowded midweek and good value, but lift capacity is thin: two drag lifts mean Saturday mornings back up quickly and the queue is the slowest part of the day.
Podobovets Zakarpattia, 620 m base
A long, forgiving blue run that suits mixed-ability groups, with one catch: snowmaking covers only the upper half, so the bottom section depends entirely on natural snow.

Quotes for Carpathian resorts come back within one working day, compiled by a named trip designer. If a shortlisted resort has thin lower runs in a thaw, or a lift closed that morning, the quote says so before you pay anything.
